COVID 19 Update

COVID 19 Update

Here at Bulhawk, like all businesses that have been fortunate to be allowed to operate, we have had to adapt to the new normal in managing the risk from COVID 19.

We were able to quickly implement COVID secure procedures in our office and warehouse. Our office staff was able to work from home and continue offering support and dealing with orders from our valued customers. We are a close-knit team here at Bulhawk, and whilst this was a new way of working for us, we made it a great success using the technology now freely available such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom to keep in contact with each other. Each morning we now try to get the team together on a conference call to discuss the day ahead and for a catch up over a morning coffee, much like we would have done previously in the work kitchen. A positive to this was the disagreements of whose turn it was to wash up stopped!

The warehouse work cannot be done remotely, meaning we had to implement changes to the way we worked in the warehouse. This included a full COVID 19 risk assessment and the provision of PPE and hand sanitizer stations in various locations. The warehouse computer was limited to being used by one staff member unless it was thoroughly cleaned between each use. We provided our warehouse staff with 2.5l thermos flasks so they could bring in a hot drink without having to share the kitchenware or come into close contact in a small room. We have also provided bottled drinking water for use by employees. Additional cleaning of all touchpoints such as door handles, lift truck handles, and chairs are wiped down after each use with cleaning products.

It has been important to use at Bulhawk to be able to operate due to the fact many of our business and individual customers have used our products to help their own businesses or families manage the risks of COVID 19. We have supplied throughout the pandemic many gazebos to businesses to increase their under-cover space such as small cafes and public houses. This has allowed businesses to manage the social distancing safely without reducing the number of covers they have been able to provide to unsustainable levels. Individual customers alike have made great use of the gazebos to allow covered garden visits between families when this has been allowed by the ever-changing government rules.

We don’t know what the future holds as we head into a ‘second wave’ but what we do know is that we will keep operating as safely as possible in line with our COVID secure procedures, keeping our employees, customers, and delivery partners as safe as possible during these challenging times.
